Taco Tuesday is a tradition many of us look forward to, but let’s be honest – sometimes, the thought of assembling tacos, especially on a busy weeknight, feels like a lot. That’s where taco cups come in – a fun, easy twist on the classic taco that’s perfect for when you’re short on time or need something portable.

But what ARE Taco Cups? Taco cups are essentially all the deliciousness of a taco, neatly packed into a crispy, handheld cup. They’re made by pressing small tortillas or wonton wrappers into a muffin tin, filling them with your favorite taco ingredients, and baking until crispy. The result? A bite-sized taco that’s perfect for eating on the go or serving at a casual get-together. There are so many reasons why we love them, but here are the top three:

  • Less Mess: Taco cups hold everything together, making them easier to eat, especially for kids or on-the-go meals.

  • Customizable: Just like regular tacos, you can fill them with anything you like – beef, chicken, beans, cheese, veggies – the possibilities are endless.

  • Quick and Easy: They come together quickly, especially if you prep your fillings ahead of time.

Next time Taco Tuesday rolls around and you’re short on time, give taco  cups a try. They’re a fun, easy way to enjoy all the flavors you love, with a lot less fuss. Plus, they’re perfect for when you need tacos on the go!

INGREDIENTS

  • Wonton Wrappers

  • 1lb Ground Turkey (or whichever protein you like)

  • 2tsp Avocado Oil or EEVO

  • Taco Seasoning (we love to make our own with a combination of spices)

  • 1 Small onion - diced (optional)

  • 2 cloves of garlic - minced (optional)

Topping

  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese

  • Diced tomatoes

  • Shredded Lettuce

  • Greek Yogurt or Sour Cream

  • Jalapeño slices

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Press small wonton wrappers into a greased muffin tin to form cups and bake for about 7 minutes or until they start to brown (This keeps the wrappers from getting soft once the meat is added)

  3. Add oil to a pan and cook onion on medium to high heat until it begins to soften.

  4. Add ground turkey to pan with onions and cook until turkey is cooked through

  5. Once done, remove from heat, drain excess fat and return ground turkey to pan,

  6. Add garlic, seasoning and 1/4 cup of water and return pan to heat until it begins to simmer stirring occasionally.

  7. Once simmering, remove from heat and begin assembling cups.

Assemble the cups

  1. Add a spoonful of meat mixture and 1tsp of cheese to each cup

  2. Add another wonton wrapper on top and repeat the layer of meat and cheese

  3. Place in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted

  4. Remove from the oven and top with lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream / greek yogurt or any of your favorite taco toppings!

  5. Top with a slice of Jalepeño

  6. Enjoy!
